Bland County Ministry

The WMU is collecting gently used clothing for men, women, and children of all ages to be sent to the Bland County Ministry Center. They are also in need of usable household goods for homes that are in need of repair.
New Bethesda’s church-wide mission trip will happen December 13-14, 2015. We will be helping to set up their Christmas store.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas — Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own  language. Make plans to join us in 2015 as we continue to partner in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child!
2015 will be the 19th year that New Bethesda has participated in Operation Christmas Child. As a Collection Center, we receive boxes from Relay Centers and many area churches and individuals. In 2014, New Bethesda collected over 27,000 as a Collection Center, contributing 830 of those shoeboxes ourselves. This involves many, many volunteers from churches throughout our community. This year our church family goal is 831 boxes and our goal as a Collection Center is 28,000! The Agape Circle is requesting different items for each month. In July we’re collecting toys for small girls. August will be for flashlights, batteries, and socks. September will be for pads, pencils, paper, glue sticks, coloring books, and crayons. In October we’ll collect gloves, mittens, and hats. You may bring your donations to the OCC table in our Ministry Center. Just look for the Christmas tree. Brenda is also collecting old used CDs to make spinning tops for the shoeboxes.
